Every year since 2002, to ease the stress of the Parisians who do not leave the city for summer holiday, the city of Paris converts a large section along the river Seine into a beach scene. There are games, dance and Tai Chi lessons, photo booths, cafes, a library, chair massages and tons of sand with beach and lounge chairs available so you can soak in the sun. From mid July to mid August you can find hundreds if not thousands of people enjoying the beauty of the Seine as if on an exotic beach – well almost. It is a great place for a family with kids to spend an afternoon or a couple to enjoy a romantic day at the beach without leaving the city. Also at the Place de l’Hôtel de Ville there are sand volleyball courts along with basketball courts for both adults and children. For water activities, go to the Bassin de la Villette.
Whether walking, riding or skating, the Paris Plages is a fun way to enjoy a day in the sun while in the beautiful City of Lights.
